In line with its commitment to the UN’s SDG goal #13:” Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts”, Themis became carbon neutral after entering in a carbon neutral program with ReforestAction.

Casablanca, 9 March 2020 – Neo Themis (Themis), an Africa-centric power development and investment company, has announced that its operative business became fully climate-neutral by offsetting all the emissions generated by its own operations.

Themis drive to cut its own emissions reflects its commitment to climate action. Earlier in 2019, Themis decided to drop clean gas from its portfolio to exclusively focus on delivering incremental renewable energy.

Partnering with ReforestAction, Themis will plant 3 189 trees in Togo and Ivory Coast to offset 477 tons of CO2 stemming from its 2019 operations. In Togo, the program will contribute to local population’s income improvement and diversification, fight against climate change, water purification and soil maintenance. In Ivory Coast, the program seeks to build agroforestry communities and to raise awareness among local population on biodiversity.

Tas Anvaripour, Chief Executive Officer of Themis, commented: “Being a developer and investor exclusively dedicated to renewable energies, we are very enthusiastic at Themis to play our part in making our company as sustainable as possible by becoming fully carbon neutral. We are committed to climate action as our responsibility and hope that our approach will be adopted by many of our peers.”
