Malik Faraoun joins Neo Themis as Investment Director, an expansion that reflects the Themis’ growth in Sub Saharan Africa’s energy market and aims to support continued innovation and scaling of its operations.
Casablanca, 1 November 2019 – Neo Themis (Themis), an Africa-centric power development and investment company, has announced scaling of its team by adding a new investment director, Malik Faraoun, to extend its investment capabilities in the energy infrastructure space.
Themis aims to contribute to lowering the large power deficit in Sub Saharan Africa, where it perceives a lack of well-structured quality and bankable projects inhibiting economic development. Themis’s purpose-led strategy focuses on value creation throughout project lifecycle, from origination to commercial operation, of primarily renewable and clean energy projects across several sub-sectors and technologies.
Malik Faraoun has joined Themis from the World Economic Forum, where he was serving as a Director, leading strategy for Middle East and Northern Africa operations. Malik has 15 years of experience in project finance with significant professional experience accumulated in originating, structuring and executing privately led projects and public-private partnerships in Sub Saharan Africa. He also worked at Africa50 as the Principal Investment Officer and one of the founding members as well as the Senior Investment Officer at the African Development Bank where he led closing of over a dozen project finance transactions amounting USD 1.5 bn investment which has facilitated around USD 13 billion of project total costs . Malik holds an Executive Masters in Global Leadership degree a joint program of Columbia University, Wharton, INSEAD, London Business School and China Europe International Business School.
