Themis, Eiffage, Eranove and Hydro Ingenierie Etudes et Realisations are in the financing stage of a 200 MW hydro power plant in Madagascar. The project is located on the Onive River, Alaotra Mangoro region, 100 km south east of Antananarivo.

The project was awarded to the consortium in 2016 as a result of an international competitive bidding with the assistance of Development Finance Institutions.

The project is expected to produce circa 1,600 GWh per year, with a base load capacity of 200 MW 95% of the time. The design will allow an extension to 300MW capacity.

A 35-year Concession Agreement with the Government of Madagascar and a PPA with JIRAMA, the state-owned national utility, are initialled.

Financial Close is expected to be reached in 2020 and first electrons are expected by end of 2023.

ESIA and RAP have been conducted with the support of senior environmental and resettlement experts. Studies are currently under review by the local authorities and lenders.
